Stuart Searle
Managing Director
Stuart has spent over 15 years working in the commercial energy sector, building a reputation for straightforward advice and genuinely independent thinking. He founded Practical Energy Solutions in 2023 with a clear purpose: to offer businesses an alternative to the technology-led sales approach that dominates the industry.
With hands-on experience across the full range of commercial energy systems – from solar PV and heat pumps to CHP and biomass – Stuart's starting point is always the same. He wants to understand your business first. Where it is now, where it's heading, and what an energy strategy needs to do to support that growth rather than constrain it.
Andrew Masters
Senior Consultant
Andrew joined Practical Energy Solutions early in 2023 as a Senior Consultant, bringing decades of business leadership and commercial energy expertise to the team. He works closely with clients to assess on-site energy generation opportunities, evaluate renewable energy solutions, and identify practical pathways to reducing energy costs and carbon emissions.
Having owned and managed businesses since the early 1980s, Andrew understands the commercial challenges organisations face when making strategic energy decisions. His extensive experience enables him to provide clear, pragmatic guidance, helping clients navigate the complexities of the energy market and maximise the benefits of renewable technologies.
Andrew has long been passionate about reducing greenhouse gas emissions and supporting the transition to a more sustainable future. He finds particular satisfaction in helping businesses identify viable decarbonisation opportunities that deliver both environmental and financial benefits. By reducing reliance on grid energy and improving long-term resilience, these solutions often create meaningful value for organisations and their stakeholders.

Dave Salmon
Senior Engineer
With over 40 years of engineering experience, including almost 25 years in engineering, electrical system design, installation, and electro-mechanical engineering, Dave brings a wealth of technical expertise to every project. His move into the renewable energy sector more than 15 years ago was a natural progression, combining his engineering background with a passion for practical, sustainable energy solutions.
As Senior Engineer at Practical Energy Solutions, Dave enjoys the challenge of developing the most effective solution for each client's unique requirements. His logical and methodical approach ensures that every aspect of a project is carefully considered, from technology selection and expected performance to budget and long-term value.
Dave believes in delivering solutions that are both technically sound and practical in the real world. He remains actively involved in installations, working alongside the team to ensure every project is completed to the highest standard. His attention to detail, hands-on expertise, and commitment to quality are highly valued by both colleagues and clients alike.
Louis Searle
Project Development Manager
Louis works within the company supporting project development and the administrative team. A keen eye for detail and passion for sustainability and the environment, Louis is experienced in systems development and brings a logical and pragmatic approach to everything he works on.
Louis divides his time between his role with Practical Energy and also its sister company, Northern Renewable Energy Services
When not at work, Louis is keen on sports, keeping fit, and enjoying a good film.
